About the Department


Globally, Computer Engineering skills continue to be in high demand from businesses in many sectors and this field is experiencing explosive growth. This Computer Engineering degree is designed to meet the needs of these businesses, to pursue a rewarding career. The curriculum designed by SPPU is followed which combines theoretical knowledge with practical experiments to prepare for the world of work. This program is the right choice for students who aspire the IT sector and have that zeal to be a tool proficient.

The Department of Computer Engineering at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering and Research (PCCOE&R) was established in the year 2014-15 with an initial intake of 60 students in undergraduate degree programme and enhanced its intake to 120 in the year 2020, to 180 in the year 2022 and to 240 in the year 2023. Department has been accredited by NBA for 3 years till June 2024.

PCCOE&R works on student-centric Four-Pillar philosophy which includes academic excellence, professional competence, research and innovation and social commitment. The Department also works on Outcome Based Philosophy (OBE) which is aligned with Four-Pillar philosophy, in which, we focus and organize the entire programme and all the instructional efforts around the clearly defined outcomes that we want our students to demonstrate when they leave the institute. We endeavor to deliver such contents and to exercise such pedagogies and assessment that our students achieve high order learning and mastery.

Department runs a UG programme in Computer Engineering, which is a 4 years, 8 semesters full time programme. Department has adequate number of Faculty members and supporting staff, who are well qualified, experienced and dedicated. Department has spacious classrooms, tutorial room, a department lobby (e-Shishyakulam), a project & research lab and experimentation laboratories equipped with latest equipments. The laboratories include Multimedia Lab, Web Development Lab, Programming Lab, Digital Electronics & Microprocessor LAB, Computer Network Lab, Database Lab, Advanced Computing Lab, Computer Center.

The department believes in student-centric, research oriented course delivery and aims to produce industry ready engineering workforce who are culturally vibrant, socially sensitive and enterprising with leadership qualities.

The department has exceptional placements record and offers skills to meet the challenges of a creative and productive profession according to industry needs. The department prides itself on its students for holding excellent placement records in various multinational companies, both in the public and private sectors.

The Department has a Research and Innovation conducive environment wherein students are guided for publishing papers, filing IPRs and developing products.

The Department conducts a number of workshops, seminars, industrial training programs, alumni interactions, guest lectures, and expert lectures to enhance the knowledge and to make students aware of the latest technologies. Department has a professional student branch named ACM under which technical programs like eminent speaker programs from technical fields, different technical programs, etc. are organized. Department also focuses on the overall personality development of students through different associations / clubs viz: A student association named C-Cube (Computer Cosmos Consortium), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) student chapter, Google developer students club (GDSC), Geeksforgeeks(GFG) student chapter, ACM-W (Association for Computing Machinery -W) student chapter and Codecraft club .

Sincere efforts and sense of responsibility by dedicated faculty members shows their maturity to understand the problems of students and nurture them accordingly.

M1:Establish strong fundamentals, domain knowledge and skills among the students with analytical thinking, conceptual knowledge, social awareness and expertise in the latest tools & technologies to serve industrial demands.
M2: Establish leadership skills, team spirit and high ethical values among the students to serve industrial demands and societal needs.
M3:Guide students towards Research and Development, and a willingness to learn by connecting themselves to the global society.

Program Outcomes (POs) :

1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2.Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3.Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4.Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6.The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7.Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8.Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9.Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10.Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11.Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one's own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PEO1: To prepare graduates who have strong mathematical, scientific, and Computer engineering fundamentals, to meet technological challenges and be globally competent.
PEO2: To prepare committed and motivated graduates with strong communication, ethical values, leadership skills, which augment their professional competency and make them productive team players.
PEO3: To prepare graduates with technical proficiency, research outlook and problem-solving abilities to produce innovative solutions in the field of Computer Engineering.
